“Designing Fluor’s New Houston Home: A Modern, Tech-Enabled Workplace Built for Flexibility, Connection, and Growth.”
Fluor Corporation is a global engineering and construction company based in Irving, Texas, with 40,000 employees delivering safe, efficient projects worldwide.
Fluor’s Houston office—home to approximately 1,300 employees and the base for its Energy Solutions business—has been located at the Sugar Land campus since the mid-1970s. The company is now relocating to the heart of Houston’s Energy Corridor, strategically positioning itself closer to key clients and top industry talent.
Fluor’s vision was clear: create a modern, flexible, collaborative workplace that reflects the evolving needs of its workforce and supports future growth. The company aimed to optimize its real estate footprint while fostering a dynamic environment that attracts and retains talent.
HOK’s design prioritized employee productivity and well-being while reinforcing Fluor’s brand as a forward-thinking industry leader. The new space delivers a sustainable, tech-enabled environment that encourages innovation and connection, while preserving a strong sense of identity. By integrating Fluor’s goals into every aspect of the design, HOK helped create a workplace where employees feel energized, supported, and proud to come to work.
Fluor identified five key project drivers:
Improve productivity and attract and retain top talent.
Create a sustainable, functional space supported by modern technology.
Develop a modern, welcoming, and energizing environment.
Showcase a contemporary image of Fluor that employees are proud of.
Design a space that blends existing culture with future aspirations—while still feeling like “home.”
